Main Issue
It is now beyond dispute: AI is not a bubble. (Imagine holding to a short on Nvidia 😟)
And to think that it once elicited debate and scepticism, much like early conversations around technologies such as 5G or even the very internet itself!
And for a little while it was relegated to the realm of conspiracy theories, whispered about alongside UFOs and the moon landing. Even now talk still persists of AI or AGI being the harbinger of Armageddon.
But after all is said and done, we can all unanimously acknowledge that AI has become a cornerstone of modern innovation.
Today, tools like ChatGPT allow you to formulate business plans, craft functional strategies, and accomplish tasks that once required significant investment, effort and time a decade ago.
Yet, amid this extraordinary progress lies a sobering reality: The risk of sacrificing human creativity on the altar of efficiency and speed.
The proliferation of AI-generated content has led to an unfortunate byproduct — the dilution of authenticity and originality. Too often, you can spot it in lifeless posts, uninspired messages, or ideas that feel mechanical and void of soul.
The true tragedy lies in the gradual atrophy of the creative faculties that make us uniquely human.
One of the greatest challenges entrepreneurs face in this new era is navigating not only the ethical implications of AI but also its potential to make us redundant in our thought processes.
There is a Shona proverb that I’d like to bring to your attention: “Zano pangwa une rako.” This translates to: “When seeking advice, it is important to have your own opinion.”
This piece of African wisdom teaches us that guidance, whether from a mentor or an AI assistant, should never replace the foundational work of forming your own perspectives. It is no secret that advice from others should be taken with a grain of salt.
Approaching AI without any grounding of your own thoughts is akin to wandering ignorantly and blindly.
Seeking the opinions of AI on an issue when you yourself are completely in the dark about it is a one way trip to embarassment and failure.
5 Ways To Use ChatGPT As An Entrepreneur Without Losing Your Creativity And Originality.
Streamlining research (not to reach conclusions for you).
The value of research can not be emphasised enough. Many entrepreneurs fall headlong into businesses they do not adequately understand. Research is foundational in any undertaking. ChatGPT can quickly aggregate information or summarize complex topics, freeing your mental bandwidth for strategic thinking. Cross-reference these insights with trusted sources and ensure that decisions reflect your judgment rather than defaulting to AI-generated content.
To amplify and not substitute or replace your ideation process.
We tend to ask for complete solutions; worse still, we expect these solutions to be tailor-made to our different environments and unique circumstances. Rather use ChatGPT to augment the early stages of ideation. This can mean asking for unconventional examples, references, or tangential industries where a similar problem has been solved. And from there, you can then refine these insights to reflect your personal experiences and context.
As a sparring partner - an intellectual one for a difference 😉
You need a mastermind group where you can bounce ideas off and expect intellectual exchanges. If you are not part of such a group, ChatGPT is a good intellectual sparring partner. Use it to challenge your assumptions, pressure-test ideas, and explore alternative viewpoints. You can prompt it to play devil’s advocate to expose your biases, where you might be missing critical intel and identify areas of improvement. The most important thing at the end of the day will be to retain ownership of the final synthesis.
To generate frameworks for original content creation.
Sometimes you do not know where to begin, it happens! Instead of doodling on bathroom doors with God-knows-what or yodelling in the middle of the night, you can defer to ChatGPT for assistance in generating skeleton frameworks, prompts, or outlines. From there, you can then populate these frameworks with your insights, ensuring that the narrative reflects your authenticity and voice. This hybrid approach optimizes time while maintaining originality.
For learning - as a learning accelerator.
There are many concepts in entrepreneurship we do not have a complete grasp on. It’s impossible to learn everything in one lifetime. You can request concise summaries of these complex concepts, industry trends, or case studies from ChatGPT. This knowledge can then be used as the foundation for further study or strategic thinking.
The value of ChatGPT lies in its ability to augment your thinking, not replace it. AI is there to help you think and not to think for you.

Did You Know?
Africa has the highest number of female entrepreneurs in the world. According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, about 26% of female adults in sub-Saharan Africa are involved in entrepreneurial activities.

StartUp To Watch
South African startup Social Justice has developed a digital platform for reporting maintenance obligations — the obligation to provide another person, for example, a minor, with housing, food, clothing, education, and medical care.
It has developed Co-Parent App, which is a comprehensive digital platform for maintenance obligation reporting, creating a safe space for stakeholders to share information.
When a credit provider conducts an inquiry, the maintenance obligations will be included, ensuring that those who owe child support cannot ignore their responsibilities. By partnering with the Consumer Profile Bureau, one of South Africa’s leading credit bureaus, Co-Parent App ensures that maintenance data is accurate, verifiable, and protected. This will not only improve the financial stability of single-parent families but will also support the socio-economic well-being of their children.
Why we think Co-Parent App matters:
In South Africa, over 60% of households are single-parent households.
In Sub-Saharan Africa, 32% of mothers are single parents.
In Africa, over 22% of women aged 20–49 are unmarried mothers
