Revolutionizing Township Logistics in South Africa with Delivery Ka Speed

Discover how Delivery Ka Speed is transforming delivery services in South Africa’s townships with innovative solutions, community trust, and fast, reliable logistics.

In July 2021, Godiragetse Fareed Mogajane launched Delivery Ka Speed SA, a South African startup that focuses on providing fast and reliable delivery services, particularly in townships. "Delivery Ka Speed" is Sepitori for "Speedy Delivery."

The idea struck Godiragetse during the lockdown. Stuck at home, he couldn’t order food from his mother’s township. The problem wasn’t the distance — it was the lack of delivery options. That gap sparked a business idea.

Starting small, Delivery Ka Speed initially relied on WhatsApp for orders and a handful of drivers. But Godiragetse saw a bigger challenge: many township youth didn’t have driver’s licenses. So, he introduced bicycles and electric scooters, giving young people a chance to earn a living while keeping costs low.

Operating in areas often labelled "high-risk," the company has built something rare — trust. Through a community-centric approach which involves initiatives like donating school supplies and groceries, Delivery Ka Speed has become more than a business; it’s a community ally. This goodwill has made operations smooth and hijack-free.

In just six months, the company expanded to Soshanguve, Mabopane, and Mamelodi, completing over 6,500 orders. It hired 20 drivers and over 10 administrative staff, crossing R1 million in revenue.

What began as a food delivery service quickly diversified to include groceries, parcels, and more. The team didn’t stop at townships — they brought their speed and quality to suburban areas too.

Today, Delivery Ka Speed works with major partners like Telkom and Spar. It has integrated with platforms like WooCommerce and Shopify, making it a favourite for e-commerce businesses.

Godiragetse and his team have always been ahead of the curve. For township residents without formal addresses, they introduced collection points, ensuring no one is left behind. Local drivers, familiar with the intricate layouts of townships, ensure timely deliveries.

Over three years, the company has expanded into four provinces. It even tapped unexpected opportunities, like delivering supplies for major banks and managing over 200 cell phones daily in townships.
